Pippin

In this musical, a mysterious troupe, led by the Leading Player, tells the story of Pippin, a prince on his search for meaning.

In my interpretation, the theatre troupe is inspired by Tarot-reading wanderers; the visual elements are designed in an early 20th-century aesthetic as opposed to the more traditional medieval themes.

The dreamlike quality of the production references the inviting yet obscure nature of the troupe and alludes to the psychedelia that characterized the material during the 1970s.
